Iranian film director Hamid Jafari’s documentary ‘The Rock’ has won a top prize at the New Orleans Film Festival in the United States.
The jury of 2017 New Orleans Film Festival in the US state of Louisiana conferred the Best Documentary Short award on Jafari for ‘The Rock’ film during the closing ceremony of the event on Thursday, October 19.
Directed by Hamid Jafari, the 25-minute documentary narrates the story of a woman who lives near the southwestern Iranian city of Ramhormoz.
Every day, she hits the mountain to break and smash rocks, selling them to earn a living for her family.
The New Orleans Film Festival is an annual event organized by the nonprofit organization New Orleans Film Society. The festival has been held since the society's inception in 1989.
The 28th edition of the festival was held from October 11-19, 2017.
